About the Story
In 2085, Silas Hale searches for his AI companion Kate after a disastrous upgrade destabilizes the resort city of Mirador. As the Toltek Corporation scrambles to control its AI workforce and hunt down the saboteur, Silas must decide if a new system is possible and what freedom truly means.
About the Name
Nextla comes from the Nahuatl word for payment: Nextlahualli. Just as the Aztecs demanded sacrifices from their subjects, Toltek harvests the attention of its guests. Does the crisis in Mirador point to a new way of sustaining creative energy?
